Getting to and from the Coromandel

Coromandel Town is located on the western side of the Coromandel Peninsula. It can be reached by road, coach or ferry.

BY ROAD:

Driving From Auckland
Follow the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).  Drive south through Clevedon to meet the Firth of Thames. Continue along the Seabird Coast to Miranda then onward to Thames. Continue north for one hour from Thames along the Pacific Coast Highway to reach Coromandel Town.
Driving time: Auckland to Coromandel Town - 3 hours 20 minutes

OR  Follow SH2
From downtown Auckland, drive south on the the southern motorway (SH1) for approx 30-40 minutes. Turn left at the major off-ramp that directs traffic to Tauranga and the Coromandel. Follow SH2, then take a left turn onto SH25 to Thames and then Coromandel Town. 
Driving time: Auckland to Coromandel Town – 3 hours

Driving From the Bay of Plenty
Follow the Pacific Coast Highway from Tauranga through Katikati to arrive in Waihi on the eastern-side of the Coromandel. From Waihi travel to Thames and then north to Coromandel Town.
Driving times: Tauranga to Coromandel town – 3 hours

Driving From Rotorua
Follow SH5 from Rotorua to connect with SH27 and SH26 to Paeroa and then drive on to Thames and Coromandel Town.
Driving time: Rotorua to Coromandel Town - 3 hours 40 minutes

Auckland to Coromandel ferry

BY FERRY:

BY COACH:
Intercity Coachline Services offer a service to Thames and around the Coromandel.
